I’ve been in Sydney for almost 1.5 years now, and it’s the first time I feel a bit bored. For a few weekends now, there just seems to be less and less places to discover. After tossing a few ideas around, there’s nothing interesting enough. We have a car hired for the weekend, but no where to go!
After a crazy rounds of drinking last night, we got up without a clue where to go. We went to this Newtown cafe to start the day. It’s calld “Feel Cafe”, which is suppose to be some finalist in some business award. Isn’t that just a nice way of saying they were the loser? Anyway, we found them in our little trusty Entertainment Book. Get 25% off, so why not?
Anyway, I had a nice little vegetarian dish, while Marissa had a dish called “Sawteed Mushroom”. Don’t know what that means. The tables we sat on was more interesting. It’s like they attached a square board to the wall, and put 2 seats next to it. That’s it!
The rest of the day was rather uneventful. We paid Auburn a visit, which we are considering as a possible place to stay. Compared to Ashfield, it really is rather multicultural, slightly dominated by the Muslims. The rent here is certainly cheap ($360 for a brand new 3-bedroom apartment). It’s not the closest to the city, and it’s close to the train station. Of course, it’s nothing like the city. Anyway.. we’ll see what happens.
We pretty much went home after that. We did pay Harvey Norman a visit, but didn’t get anything. The rest of the afternoon was just spent lying around at home! Just when we could have a nice dinner, we were disappointed. We walked all the way to Ichiban-boshi (in the city), only to find that they close at 8pm. We ended up having McDonalds. How sad..
I swear I’m not having another boring weekend like this again. I’ve been thinking of going hot-air ballooning for a while. The cost of it has always held me back, but I thought I can’t live another weekend doing nothing. Hopefully it’ll happen!!
