This is it. My overdue overseas holiday have just begun. For the last 2 years, I have done 3-4 weeks stint in just one country, making sure I cover everything it has to offer. This year, it’s totally different. A short stint, of 2.5 weeks, covering 3 countries Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia, focusing only on select few spots.
To be honest, it was suppose to be Malaysia and Malaysia only. I was booked to fly Jetstar to Kuala Lumpur back in May this year. For some reason, Jetstar decided not to fly there anymore, perhaps due to all the competition and the recent financial crisis. So, they called me up and offered to change my flight to any of the neighbouring countries. I chose Phuket. And since I’ve covered another country already, why not add in Cambodia.. 😉
My plan is to cover very specifics for each:
Thailand – Dive the Similan Islands, skipping the over-commercialised Phuket Islands
Malaysia – Climb Mount Kota Kinabalu, visit headhunters village, and dive Sipadan Islands
Cambodia – Visit the largest temple in the world, Angkor Wat, in Siem Reap
For the travel smart.. you must be thinking.. are you mad?? Thailand and Cambodia are going through some pretty rough struggles right now. And Sipadan Islands are well-known for tourist kidnappings! Are you looking to commit suicide in style?? 🙂
Hmm.. I never actually thought about it. I guess the way I see it, if it was THAT bad, Australia won’t let me go there in the first place. I’ll just try to be more careful…
So.. let the adventures begin..
