It’s official.. On the 11th September 2024 around 11:50pm (GMT+8), I’ve finally reached 1000 subscribers after almost 5 years since starting the “whereisant” Youtube channel in December 2019. It’s an extremely slow progress by today’s social media standards actually 🙂 Considering I’ve uploaded a total of just 22 videos in the last 5 years (averaging 4.4 videos a year), I guess it’s not “bad” given I hardly put that much effort into being a one man band.
Similar to this blog, the channel is really is just there to “record” the memories we created from our holidays. Probably the only thing I’ve changed about the videos I upload in the last year or so, is switching to a more “guide” or “informative” videos to help others who may travel to the same place. That’s probably the only reason I can think of why the views and subs are trickling up.
Having said that, ad money ain’t going to roll in anytime soon. I probably don’t even qualify yet for Youtube’s Partner Program given I don’t upload frequently enough. We’ll see. For now, it’s nice just to see that some content I put is useful to someone on the Internet 🙂
