Today, the 4-weeks long Japan trip begins, where I will be spending all my time snowboarding, and qualifying to become a NZ certified Level-1 Snowboard Instructor. It will also be my first time travelling to Japan, having putting it off for several years now. It’s certainly the most expensive trip I’ve ever got myself into, and the longest holiday I had taken since I started my working life!
To clarify, I am going snowboarding at one of the most snowy place on earth, Niseko located on the Hokkaido island of Japan, averaging over 15m of snow per year. I will be training with "The Instructor Training Academy”. By the end of the course, I will be qualified to teach newbies up to students doing linked turns.
My expectations? Lots of Ramen, onsens, and of course powder snow!
So.. here I go.. and let the adventure begin..
